Delete your account
Last updated: October 2, 2026
A Tomen account is an email address, used to carry Tomen Plus and
your synced reading between devices. You can delete it yourself in the app, or ask
Tomen LLC to delete it for you. Either way it is permanent.
In the app
- Open Tomen — on the web at read.tomen.app,
or in the Windows or Android app — and sign in if you aren't.
- Open Settings, then Profile.
- Under Account, choose Delete account, and confirm.
The account is deleted at once.
Without the app
Email feedback@tomen.app
from the address the account uses, and ask for the account to be
deleted. We delete it within 30 days and reply to confirm. Writing from that
address is how we know the request is yours; we don't ask for anything else.
What is deleted
- The account, and the email address it was made with.
- Everything that was synced to it: reading positions, highlights and notes
(including the short excerpt of the passage each one marks), saved words,
reading time, shelf details such as tags and groups, and settings.
- The Tomen Plus record on the account — a trial, or a purchase. Signing in
again later with the same address does not bring Plus back by itself. If you
bought Plus and come back, write to us with your receipt.
- If you sent a problem report with that address, the report keeps its text
and loses the address.
What is not deleted
- Anything on your devices. Your books, and the highlights,
words and settings stored with them on a device, stay there. Remove them in
the app, or by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
- The record of a purchase. Tomen Plus is sold by Polar, the
merchant of record, which keeps its own order and tax records as the law
requires of it. Deleting your Tomen account does not delete those.
- Crash reports. They carry no email address, account or
name, so they are not tied to you and cannot be found by account.
- A fingerprint, for the free trial. We keep a scrambled,
one-way fingerprint of the address (a salted hash, not the address itself)
and the date its free trial ends or ended, so that the trial is given once
per address. If you sign up again, the trial picks up where it stood. It is
kept for two years from the day the account is deleted, and then erased.
Ask us, in the same email or later, and we will remove it sooner.
